Interesting things that made me read the The Sun Newspaper today. 4/5/2015

  • In Las Vegas, Mayweather defeated Pacquiao and has an estimated net worth about US$290 million which is about RM1 billion. (Correct me if I am wrong.) Pacquiao thought he won the fight, perhaps it was because of his over confidence that he would win brought him down in this battle.

  • There is a new invention called The Shoes That Grows by Because International which claims this shoe can grow up to 5 sizes and may last up to 5 years. With a donation of RM38.00 or US$10 to , a shoe will be sponsored to a kid in need, especially those that lives in extreme poverty and are infected with soil-transmitted diseases. https://www.theshoethatgrows.org/the-duffle.html

  • ic! Berlin presents plotic; a 3D printed eyewear by Selective Laser Sintering; SLS technology. It kinda annoys me when they don't put the capital letters in place.

I found American firm MicroZap though that claims this method could extend bread shelf lives for weeks. A post from 2012. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2240954/Bread-stays-mould-free-months-American-company-Microzap-uses-microwave-technology-kill-spores-lead-mould.html

Renew Passport Experience (April 2015)

GET IN LINE
7.30am    Arrived at Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia.

GET A TICKET
8.42am    Get ticket number. Mine was 1099. They only give out tickets until number 1200.

GET PHOTOGRAPHED AND THUMBPRINT SCANNED
10.20am  There will be coats hanging on the wall. Use it if there happens to be an officer who gets everyone to wear a coat no matter how formal they looked, based on your observation of course. Choose a coat and wear it when it is almost your turn. Since I was in a hurry, I wore my coat just in case, so that I don't have to waste time getting the coat. The picture of yourself will be shown in black and white on the passport. I think the pictures will have colors on the system though. Scan thumbprint and move on. Wait, I think you may have to put down your signature at this stage but I am not 100% sure.

PAY FOR YOUR NEW PASSPORT
10.44am  Wait until it's your turn again. Pay RM 200.00 to renew passport for 5 years.

COLLECT YOUR PASSPORT
11.30am  You can collect the passport next time within the 3 months after renewing it otherwise it will no longer be valid.  Give the officer your receipt when he called out the number stamped on your receipt. Some people will have the same number as yours stamped on their receipts as well. The officer will take your receipt and collect your new passport. Wait a little longer until your name is called out. Collect your new passport. You can buy a red cover passport holder that cost RM 3.00

LEAVE THE PLACE
12.15pm  You are free to leave and rush off to your class that starts at 1pm.
